Creating your page and launching a campaign on Ulule is free. Ulule earns a commission on the funds raised, deducted when the funds are transferred. For an individual in France, it is 8% including VAT on funds paid by card, as long as the campaign stays under €100,000.
When does the commission apply?
- Campaign with rewards or pre-orders: only if the campaign succeeds. If the goal is not reached, backers are refunded and you pay nothing.
- Donation or subscription campaign: on all funds transferred, whatever the amount reached. It is charged at each transfer.
The rate is the same for all three campaign types. The commission covers support, technical costs and transaction costs: there are no other fees for you.
How is the rate calculated?
- The rate depends on the payment method: it is lower for funds collected offline (cheque, bank transfer) than for card payments.
- It decreases in brackets above €100,000 raised.
- The commission is set excluding VAT. The VAT added depends on your situation: for an individual based in the European Union, it is the VAT of their country of residence. Hence 8% including VAT in France (20% VAT).
The full scale, bracket by bracket, is in the terms of use (article 4.4). It is the only binding version.
What about the fees paid by backers?
A service fee is added to each contribution and paid by the backer, not by you: it does not reduce the funds you receive. See Backer service fees on Ulule.
What about VAT on contributions?
Ulule does not charge VAT on contributions. It is up to you to check whether you are liable for VAT, and at what rate depending on your rewards. A donation without a reward does not involve VAT.
