To back a campaign, choose your contribution on the project page, log in (or create your Ulule account), then pay on a secure page. The steps vary slightly depending on the campaign type.
How do I contribute, depending on the campaign type?
- Campaign with rewards: rewards and their amounts are listed on the project page. Click the one you like, or make a free contribution, then follow the steps to payment.
- Donation campaign: choose a suggested amount or enter your own. If the project team accepts monthly donations, choose between a one-off donation and a monthly donation (the same amount every month).
- Subscription campaign: choose a paid monthly tier, or the free tier if there is one.
Free contributions are shown from €1.
When am I charged?
- Campaign in euros: your card is charged straight away. For a campaign with rewards, the money is only paid to the project team if the goal is reached. Otherwise, you are fully refunded: see What happens if the project I backed doesn't happen?
- Campaign in Canadian dollars (CAD): the amount is only reserved (pre-authorised) on your card. You are only charged at the end of the campaign, and only if it reaches its goal.
- Monthly donation or subscription: your card is charged every month, on the same day as the first payment.
How can I pay?
By bank card on every campaign, and sometimes by Apple Pay, iDEAL or bank transfer depending on the project. The full list, limits and special cases are in What payment methods are accepted?
A service fee is added to each contribution and shown before payment: see Backer service fees on Ulule.
Can I give directly to the project team, by cheque or bank transfer?
Yes, if the project team accepts it: they then record your contribution offline on their campaign. Note that this money does not go through Ulule: if a campaign with rewards fails, the project team refunds you, not Ulule. This is not possible for a subscription campaign.
